The Biotechnology Pathway aims to equip high school students with a foundational understanding of biotechnological principles and practices. This program provides hands-on learning experiences that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation in biological sciences. By engaging in laboratory techniques, research projects, and real-world applications, students will develop essential skills applicable in various fields, including healthcare, agriculture, and environmental science. In the biotechnology pathway, students take two courses, Essentials of Biotechnology followed by Applications of Biotechnology. These courses introduce them to the field of biotechnology—the use of living organisms, cells, and biological systems to develop products and technologies that improve lives and the environment. Throughout the pathway, students gain hands-on experience with laboratory techniques such as DNA analysis, gel electrophoresis, and microbiology, while also exploring real-world applications in medicine, agriculture, and environmental science. This sequence prepares students for college-level science, careers in the life sciences, or further training in biomedical or biotech-related fields.
