Assign point values to each grade earned, add total points, divide by number of credits attempted.

*You can view your official weighted SFHS GPA on your transcript through Parent Portal. 

Rigor= Colleges want to see that you increase "rigor" (number of honors/AP/IB/Dual Enrollment courses) every year, while being successful.  You can get an idea as to how many "rigor" courses colleges want to see in the students they offer acceptance to by checking out each school's First-Year Student Profile (located on their individual website). 

HOPE RIGOR= The HOPE Scholarship requires students to take a minimum of 4 "HOPE RIGOR" courses by graduation. To see a list of what courses count for "HOPE RIGOR" click here.

A school's First-Year Student Profile takes a snap-shot of the middle 50% of their previous year's accepted freshmen class. These can usually be found in the admissions section of the school's website.

"The PSAT won’t count towards your college admissions applications, but it is the qualifying test for the  National Merit Scholarship . Some of the highest scoring students may win scholarship money, so while you shouldn’t stress out about the PSAT, you certainly shouldn’t ignore it either. Use the PSAT as practice for the SAT and ACT and an important guidepost on your college admissions journey."

Before requesting a Letter of Recommendation, please fill out the Senior Profile (found here) and email/give it to your counselor or teacher.  Please allow at least 2 weeks for completion and submission of the letter.  The more detail you can provide on your Senior Profile, the better! We want to help you stand out!
